I’ve missed writing about music. Who knew it would be a ‘black metal’ band that would inspire me to put more effort into getting this site back up and running? I know very little about this genre and, frankly, most of the stuff that I’ve heard scares the crap out of me but I’ve been listening to “Vino Verso” from Oranssi Pazuzu‘s new album ‘Valonielu’ non-stop since getting a link to it in an email earlier today.
There’s not a Soundcloud embed link for the track so you’ll have to click the link below to check the song out.
‘Valonielu’ will be in stores in the U.S. on October 15, just in time to scare the kiddies who will knock on your door asking for Halloween candy!
The Melvins get interviewed by Jeff Probst and play to a bunch of people that appear to have wandered in of the street in search of appetizers.
Great new track from Ola Podrida’s forthcoming album, ‘Ghosts Go Blind’, out April 30 on Western Vinyl.
Both bands are celebrating a 40th anniversary – for Lynyrd Skynyrd it’s the anniversary of their debut album, for Bad Company it’s the anniversary of their formation.
With that many years of music under their collective belts, the hits will be flowing on this 12-date summer tour. Blackstone Cherry opens all dates except for July 27.

Right in my wheelhouse! While waiting for the new Son Volt CD to come out (the wait ends on Tuesday!), I’ve been biding my time with Drew Holcomb and The Neighbor’s ‘Good Light’. Holcomb and band haven’t really broken any new territory – they’ve just done a great job of nailing a very familiar alt-country sound.
There are a number of tracks on ‘Good Light’ that could have ended up as a “song of the week” but this one captures everything I love about this genre of music – twangy guitars, female backing vocals, and lyrical content about growing up in the south.
